Virtually all been virtual...

2021 has been the year when the virtual studio seems to have finally been accepted onto mainstream channels with both ITV & BBC choosing Virtual (VR) or Extended reality (XR) studios for new shows along with their flagship coverage of the Euros and the Olympics.

I've been fortunate enough to have DoP'd a new show for the BBC called Bamous shot at the Science Museum in London along with ITV's Euro 2020 coverage using a 20 meter XR stage at Maidstone Studios and a "real" set for the games at Wembley culminating in the Final between Italy & England.

It was then on to the Olympics for Discovery using their new studio at Stockley Park where they've upgraded the cube to enable multiple guests to be "teleported" in from around the world.

I'll write some more in-depth case studies for each of the projects as we've learnt so much as as we've gone along, but for now here are some screen shots...

EURO 2020 - ITV

TOKYO OLYMPICS - DISCOVERY
